A small general tip for using softboxes:
Octagons - Shadows will be larger but lighter, the bigger the softbox the softer the light.
Rectangles - Shadows will be thinner but darker. The bigger the softbox the softer the light.
Strip - controlling the light in a specific direction more accurately, such as long item photography, people, fashion, cars, and furniture photos.
